Between 2016-2017, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 fiasco resulted in a staggering $17 billion revenue loss. The much-anticipated device, plagued by battery malfunctions, became infamous as it overheated, exploded, and even combusted, leading to widespread online jokes and a significant recall effort by Samsung.

Despite efforts to rectify the issue with new batteries, the Galaxy Note 7 devices continued to malfunction, leading to several recalls, the first in September 2016. Ultimately, Samsung discouraged charging the phone beyond 15%, a futile measure, resulting in the discontinuation of the phone by March 2017.
