Medicine has evolved a lot over the centuries, and we are much healthier and longer lived than we used to be. Despite this, to become a doctor, you don’t always have to be the sharpest tool in the shed, as is clear from these stories gathered from the five corners of the internet. So when visiting a doctor and you have doubts, it never hurts to get a second or even third opinion (from other doctors), but for the most part, it’s good to remember they’ve spent years studying this and know more about it than we do.

Going to the dentist is scary enough, even as an adult. Teeth pain is one of the worst kinds of pain, and someone digging around in your mouth is never pleasant. But this patient had an even stranger experience during their visit that was more bizarre than terrifying.
I’m pretty sure if you specialize in something in med school, like being a dentist, you’re mostly qualified to practice that part of the field. You know, the thing you intentionally studied to become an expert at. But what I didn’t know is that checking for a hernia was included in that training.
