#36: Herbert Hoover (1929-1933)
Herbert Hoover’s presidency, from 1929 to 1933, was marred by the Great Depression, which began shortly after he took office. Despite his efforts to combat the economic downturn, including implementing public works projects, Hoover’s policies were criticized as ineffective in addressing the widespread suffering and unemployment.

Many blamed him for the severity of the Depression, tarnishing his reputation and popularity, and therefore leading him to gain spot 37 on this list of 45 presidents of the United States of America.
