#2: Abraham Lincoln (1861-1865)
Lincoln is remembered as one of the best presidents for dealing with tough situations, keeping the country united, and fighting for fairness. He guided the nation through the incredibly difficult Civil War and made a big move in 1863 by signing the Emancipation Proclamation, which helped to end slavery.

Lincoln’s eloquent speeches, including the Gettysburg Address, continue to inspire generations with their message of equality and unity. Considering the time period, Lincoln was ahead of his time in politics, which is probably why he remains a top favorite for so many.
