31. Best to Listen to a Local Who Knows the Area
The folly of hubris, as they say. Some of us travelers tend to develop a bit of a daredevil, careless attitude to the point it goes against common sense. We’re already out on an adventure, we say, what’s there to fear? Well, a lot, apparently.
If you are a stranger in a strange land, it’s generally wisest to pay attention to your surroundings and to those who have grown up in it and have become familiar with it. If they say, “Hey, don’t go down that alley, you’ll get mugged,” you should probably listen to them.
